wowza!

if your mom is asking you to update your blog - i think it's about time.

thoughts so far:

--first year teaching is a breeze. well, a 115-mph-come-out-of-nowhere-we-aren't-in-kansas-anymore type of breeze, sure!

--i LOVE my job, but it is most certainly NOT easy. and free time? what's that? i'm lucky i have time to take a shower in the morning. :) (i do, just in case you were worried!).

--the best way i can explain teaching is this: i am a doctor with 21 little patients. they don't know why they are there to see me, other than they know i make them better [somehow!]. in one sitting, i need to diagnose all of them, figure out a cure, and constantly monitor their health.

--everyday after class i look back on the day and think about what went well, what i could have changed, what needs to be adjusted. i switch seats, change signs, organize, plan, update, etc. it's EXHAUSTING trying to find perfection.

--in teaching, there's this saying that you can't smile until after christmas. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? my kiddos make me laugh everyday. they come and give me hugs and write notes on their tests like, "im going to ROCK this test!" or "i love miss harmon" or "i'm miss harmon. har har." (not funny to you, but if you saw how cute the drawings were, you'd understand!).

--have i mentioned i really do love it though? i'm there at 6:30am most mornings - not because i have to be, but because i like to be. my classroom has become my project - it's my career and my hobby. my passion and my beliefs.

so, some random no paragraphical (?) thoughts for you. im going to post pictures. and relax and watch some junk TV. :)

I'm glad your Mom asked you first, because I was going to comment on it tomorrow. Umm...where's my bulletin board?
